Sophie Wright

I'm a Multi-disciplinary Artist Specialising in Drawing, Sculpture and Community Workshops. As well I am an experienced Meditation Practitioner working with 1-1 or in groups of up to 40 participants. Currently I am working on weaving these two practices together during my Eastbourne Meditation Project associated with Eastbourne Alive Celebrating the Turner Prize.

Biography

I'm an Artist, Sculpture and Meditation Practitioner based in Eastbourne. Born in Dubia, UAE.

BA Fine Art graduate from Falmouth University Cornwall. Before that went to Art College in Eastbourne.

Artist Assistant to a number of Professional Artists over the years; Susie Monnington (Oil Painting), Michel Francois(Ceramics), Gareth Savage (Festival/Public Art), Nicole White (Murals)and Graham Matthews (Ceramics). Assisted and ran Youth Groups in Lewes, Seaford and Eastbourne.

Organisations I've worked for or been associated with; Eastbourne Alive, Devonshire Collective, Towner Gallery, Fabrica Gallery, Falmouth Art Gallery, Marine Conservation Society, Eastbourne Climate Coalition, Compass Community Arts, Seaford Youth Forum, East Sussex County Council, Lewes Distract Council, Michel Francois Porcelain, Clay Workshop, Dairy Studios, Hesketh Potters, E-Festival, Beneath the Baobabs Festival, The Thrown Gauntlet Festival of Mixed Arts.

Started sharing a studio at the beginning of 2022, with a group of artists at the Cornfield Art Collective in Central Eastbourne.

Have guided Meditation sessions since 2010 at the Seaford Yurt with teachers from the Oneness University, One World Academy and Tony Robbins associates. I'm a trained Deeksha giver from Oneness University, India. President of the Meditation Society FXU for 2-3 years at Falmouth University. Completed an Erasmus plus course 'Inner Peace to Social Progress' in Merzouga, Morocco. Have done Greenpeace events(Cornwall), private classes up to 40 and one to ones til now. Facilitating a Sanctuary for others to heal with the spoken word.
